Everything You Need to Know about Mandarmani

In December 2021, for the first time, I went to Mandarmani. As we know, one's first experience matters the most. There's a saying: 'The first impression is the last impression'. Even though I don't believe in this saying, in this case, I believe it's true. After that, I visited the place numerous times. In this blog, I'm going to enlighten you with beneficial information based on my experience.

Background

Mandarmani is located on the coast of East Midnapur, West Bengal, India. It was in the 1950s the West Bengal government started promoting sea resorts like Digha, but it was only in the 1990s that Mandarmani was noticed and within the past two decades, the place has become a well-known tourist place. Numerous hotels were built, and sea resorts were developed, and with the help of the WB government means of transport and communications were also improved drastically. It is interesting to note that the southernmost part of the West Bengal holds Mandarmani on the lap of the Bay of Bengal.

Mandarmani Name

Initially, Mandarmani was known as Mandarboni. A local folklore is related to the name "Mandarmani". A story suggests that the name "Mandarmani" came from the combination of two words: "Mandar" and "Rani". "Mandar" refers to a type of flower, and "Rani" means queen. As per legend, a queen named Mandarmani used to rule this area and was renowned for her benevolence and kindness towards the local people.

Is Mandarmani Safe?

People from different districts of West Bengal visit the sea resort for two reasons. First, for ecotourism and second to spend days in a calm and quiet environment. Mandarmani is a seaside resort village. Here, people live peacefully and harmlessly. There isn't any particular time when you should visit the place. At times you will find there are no tourists and trust me you will enjoy that moment the most. I went to Mandarmani with my siblings, at that time there were few tourists. We didn't face any issues plus you will hardly hear any unfortunate news. As per my experience, Mandarmani is a must-visit and additionally, go there anytime you want. Here's a tip- whenever you are planning to visit this place do not miss the sunrise and sunset. The scenery looks incredible, it is one of the things you will never regret.

Means of Traveling

we went to Mandarmani via car from Kolkata. It took around 4 hours and 30 minutes. there are other means are also available like busses and trains. Travelling to the beautiful place with siblings in a car was the best experience I have ever had.

Mohana Beach (Estuary)

Mohana Beach
Mohana (Estuary) is only a few kilometres away from Mandarmani. Do you know the meaning of the name Mohana? It means attractive or charming and as the name suggests the place is truly captivating. For me, it was a blessing to the eyes. here, you will get to see the meeting point of the river Champa with the Bay of Bengal. Do not forget to visit the place!! Also, if you are a seafood lover, that is the best place to get it.

Mandarmani Famous For?

Mandarmani is famous for its pristine beach and serene surroundings. The destination is known for water sports and activities, tranquil ambience and beautiful sunset. The beach offers water sports and activities like jet skiing, surfing, swimming and motorboat trips.

This was such a great experience that made me write a poem, it goes like this:

In the night,

Beneath the full moonlight

I stayed alluring the sight.

In the night

Beside the sea-waves

I started with glee.

In the night,

The wind seems sanguine

Protruding beyond the surface courageously.
